WEDDING DAY FAMILY PHOTOS

Family photos are a necessary, important part of the wedding day. It is best to keep family photo as efficient as possible so that they can enjoy the festivities.

Our approach to family photos is using an add and subtract method to minimize movement of our Bride and family members.  We recommend keeping the family list compact and light.

In general, we do not need a list. If you like to make one – please use the guide below. Please use role labels (MoB, Brother, Grandpa, Uncle) – DO NOT SEND US FIRST NAMES ONLY.

Important: Everyone must be PRESENT during the entire duration of these photos.

Recommended Photo List

Photos AFTER the Ceremony (No First Look).  Please LIMIT to 12 simple group setups.  Anything more will result in less B&G photos and undesirable experience for families and wedding party.

  1. BG + Bride’s Grandparents
  2. BG + Groom’s Grandparents
  3. BG + MoB + FoB
  4. BG + MoB + FoB + Siblings + Spouse + Kids
  5. BG + MoG + FoG
  6. BG + MoG + FoG + Siblings + Kids
  7. BG + Extended Family 1 (i.e. MoB side)
  8. BG + Extended Family 2 (i.e. FoB side)
  9. BG + Bridesmaids + Groomsmen
  10. B + Bridesmaids
  11. G + Groomsmen

Important: Everyone must be PRESENT during the entire duration of these photos. If one person is missing, it derails the entire session. Please instruct your family to promptly show up at the family photo site – no bar, no bathroom, and avoid all eager guests.

TIME:
Depends on the size of your family, but typically we need 45 minutes to an hour for family and wedding party photos.  This is based on a traditional nuclear family with 10 people in the Bridal Party.

Estimate time by multiplying each photo line with 90 seconds.  Some setups are very simple, which makes up time for the larger groups.  Allow 10-15 minutes of buffer – usually needed to look for missing people.

Example: 29 setups * 90 seconds = 43.5 minutes.
